Today I’d like to tell you about a really cool GPS based application called “Waze”. Unlike traditional cell phone tracking applications that I often write about on my website, this app isn’t just about tracking the location of your friends and family members. Having said that, it does use GPS but for an entirely different purpose which I think is pretty cool. This application is a community-based app that is designed to collect traffic data from other people who have the app running on their phone while they are driving. If you have the application installed and running on your phone while you are driving to work, to the movies, or to your kid’s soccer game, this application can help you determine the best route to take. The way it works is by collecting traffic data from all of the people who have it running on their phone in your area. If the route that you plan on taking is blocked with bumper-to-bumper traffic, this application can tell you that before you hit the road!… Read More »

When you first buy your iPhone, it’s going to have the boring and bland message that simply says something like, “your call has been forwarded to an automated voice messaging system”. Many people never get around to changing this default voicemail message but the problem with doing this is that people who call you won’t have any idea if they actually called the right number. Especially if it’s the first time that they have called your cell phone. Fortunately, it’s not difficult to change that boring old default message and replace it with something that is much more personal. Today I’ll be walking you through the simple iPhone voicemail setup procedures. How to Set Up Voicemail on iPhone Just follow these simple steps and you’ll have a personalized voicemail message on your iPhone in no time! On the home screen, tap the “phone” icon. In the upper left side of your screen you’ll want to then tap on the word “Greeting”. You’ll then see two options. One says “Default” and that one will have a… Read More »

As you might already know, Google recently made the decision to close down their cell phone tracker service called Google Latitude. Well, it seems that I must have been asleep at the wheel because I completely missed the fact that the Gowalla App has also been retired. You might have figured out that I don’t use the app much or I would have already figured out that it doesn’t work any more. I personally prefer foursquare over Gowalla and that’s the app that I use most of the time. If you didn’t already know, Gowalla was basically a location sharing application. Users of the app could install the application on their smartphone and check-in where ever they went. They could check-in when they were at their favorite coffee shop or when they were on vacation and visiting historical landmarks that they’ve always wanted to see. It was a way of letting your friends know where you were and what you were doing. While many people liked the app, in my opinion, foursquare (who is still… Read More »
