One of the most common reason that people might want to use a premium app is for those situations when they might need to do some “covert” tracking. As a general rule, you’re going to have to spend a bit to use the best covert phone tracking apps.

Selecting An App That You Can Use To Track A Cell Phone

The decision about which particular application you should choose to use is going to be a personal one. It will depend on a number of factors such as what mobile device you own, what features you need, and whether or not you need the software to be covert and not easily detectable. If you’re like me, you’ll probably try several of them before you actually decide which app you like the best. Keep in mind that you don’t have to settle for just one either. You may find that your needs will require you to use more than one program.

As you read through my website, you’ll learn that some of these apps are quite powerful and capable of handling tasks such as remote backups as well as many other very useful and practical tasks. The apps that offer this functionality are quite useful but they typically don’t offer any of the social networking features like apps that fall in the category of foursquare, Gowalla, Facebook Places, or Google Latitude.

Will You Need A Data Plan If You Use GPS Phone Tracking Software?

This is a very interesting question and one that should not be overlooked. There are three types of GPS tracking technologies to consider. Some apps are “network based” such as the Sprint Family Locator. While Sprint isn’t really talking about how their service is actually able to do what it can do, many Sprint customers appreciate that they aren’t required to sign up for a data plan if they want to subscribe to Sprint’s phone tracer service.

The next class of cell phone GPS locator apps are “Internet based”. Most kinds of tracking software fall into this category. The only way these apps can upload the GPS coordinates of the phone is though the Internet. I should point out that if you’re using an app that is continually uploading data to the Internet, the app could possibly use quite a lot of bandwidth. I suspect that we’ll see apps in the future that become very efficient at compressing the data they upload to minimize the bandwidth that they use. When this happens, bandwidth concerns will become less of an issue.

The third category of tracking programs are called “GPS loggers”. These apps utilize the GPS capabilities of modern cell phones just like most GPS tracking applications but they don’t upload the data to the Internet. Instead, users of these apps can manually download the tracking data points from the phone or device via a USB cable or Bluetooth when they have the device in their hands. Another option is to manually upload the GPS data points to the Internet when the phone has a Wi-Fi connection. This type of tracking software doesn’t require that users subscribe to a data plan either.

There is actually a fourth type of app that I like to call “hybrid based”. These apps can upload data points to the Internet and all of them that I’m aware of still need a data connection to do this. If bandwidth is a concern, these apps can be configured to upload the data once a day instead of every few minutes. I suspect that in the near future, we’ll see apps that have the capability of storing the GPS tracking data until it detects that the phone is connected to the Internet via a Wi-Fi connection. At this point the GPS tracking data that was accumulating on the phone will be automatically uploaded to the Internet.

Keeping Up To Speed On The Latest Phone Tracking Technology

There are so many GPS tracking programs available these days and it seems like a new one is hitting the market virtually every day. When I first started this website, there were only a few to choose between. It’s starting to become quite difficult to keep up with all the new programs that are coming out these days. I must admit that I’m quite excited about the future of this technology and I’m amazed at some of the new features the developers of these apps are coming up with.
