As you probably know by now, I love playing around with new apps and gadgets.

A few weeks ago I found one of the very best apps for my Droid Incredible 2! I was going to wait and write a post about several of the best apps for this phone but this little program is so cool that I just couldn’t wait any longer.

You know the feeling that you get when you find something so cool that you want to call all your friends to tell them about it because you are sure that they are going to love it too? Well that’s the feeling that I have right now.

Many of you are going to laugh at me when I tell you what this app is and what it actually does. The pure genius behind this app is in its simplicity. This app isn’t going to help you do your calculus homework but I’ll bet you’ll use it more than an app that could do your homework for you. The name of this amazingly simple app is “Tiny Flashlight + LED” and it will work on most Google Android powered devices.

That’s right! You heard right! I really think that this simple flashlight app is one of the best apps for Droid Incredible. The reason I place it in this category is because of how much I find myself using it. I don’t care how sophisticated an app is, if it’s not an app that you use a lot, it’s just taking up space on your phone.

Why I Think This App Is One Of The Best Apps For Android Phones

Virtually everyone uses flashlights. If you think about it, who doesn’t find themselves needing a flashlight from time to time? Some people are clever enough to actually keep a real flashlight handy but most of us forget and we end up trying to use our cell phone screen as a flashlight. This works to a certain extent but the light is rarely bright enough and it never fails that just about the time when we need the light the most, the backlight in the screen times out and the screen goes dark.

This little app is surprisingly useful. When I first saw it in the Android Market, I actually chuckled and thought to myself, “boy, they’ll make an app for just about everything these days”. Even though I initially thought it was silly, I decided to install it just to see what it actually did. I was expecting that it would simply display a white screen on my phone at maximum brightness but boy was I wrong!Tiny Flashlight + LED

I was eager to test this novel little app so I turned the lights off and started the application on my Droid Incredible 2. Initially I was a bit unimpressed. The only thing that showed up on my screen was a round button in the middle of the display. I was still curious so I touched the button and WOW! Instantly both of the LED’s for my phone’s camera flash turned on at full intensity. I couldn’t believe it! This little app that I thought was going to be stupid, virtually lit up my entire room!

You might say that “a light turned on” for me just about then. Instantly, I realized how useful this app was going to be for me. The very next thing I did was saved the app as a widget on my phone’s homepage because I knew that I was going to be using it a lot. The clever designer of this app is a guy by the name of Nikolay Ananiev. He’s a genius in my book for designing one of the most practical apps that I’ve ever seen! Over the last few weeks, I’ve used this little app dozens of times.

I never seem to have a flashlight with me when I need one but I always have my cell phone with me. There are a few other settings built into this app like the ability to turn off the LED’s and turn on the screen at full intensity. You can also choose a red and green flashing warning light. You can also make a selection that shows a light bulb on your screen and you can control its brightness by sliding your finger across your screen. There’s also a selection that you can make that will change the color of the light on your screen. You can easily change the color by swiping your finger across the screen. Believe it or not, you can even select an option that displays flashing police lights! I imaging that this option is going to get plenty of teenage drivers into trouble.

There are a handful of other settings that you can change in the “General Settings” window that I haven’t really played around with yet. I’m sure I will soon though because this app just seems to fascinate me for some reason.

How To Get The Tiny Flashlight App

I highly recommend that you stop by the Android Market and download Tiny Flashlight + LED today. It’s one of the very few apps out of the thousands that I have downloaded that gets used everyday. Be sure and thank Nikolay for making this free app for us all to use and rate his app 5 stars for being one of the most useful apps in the market!
